Comfort Connections is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded by Jeanene Hupy. She received her field education in comforting others through the aftermath of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School. When those children finally returned to school, they were greeted by a slew of golden retrievers. It was then that she saw first hand how these beautiful dogs possessed an innate ability to offer students comfort, healing and support; as well as serve as a bridge to communicate with others. Jeanene also deployed to other visible and less visible tragedies and while there, she knew they were bringing comfort to those in deep need. However, what she learned was that after the supporters left, students and adults did not possess the skillset to continue caring for and comforting one another. This is why Comfort Connections exists and was launched. While we do respond to crisis situations that require comfort, our ultimate goal is to help people re-learn the skill of comfort prior to tragedy and crisis.
